logitech g pro x gaming headset review

Strong audio performance with crisp highs. A metal substructure supports two black plastic ear cups, each of which has a silver circle with a G logo on the outside. The Logitech G Hub application also has a neat recorder function, to let you listen to the effects of changes to this processing without firing up a separate voice recorder. This leads to it appearing to dominate at times, sitting under dialogue in a way that reduces clarity. If it's not exactly "rich," it's not far off. You don’t need surround sound, you don’t need Virtual 7.1 and all that stuff, the basic stereo imaging is fantastic by default. The leather headband is fantastic, it feels really premium, and I do like the Pro text on it and the stitching on the sides.

The Pro line is really all about the core functionality of being a solid gaming headset in eSports and for media consumption. In Overwatch, I could hear the activating cry for each ability, the direction of each enemy's attack and the satisfying pulse of gunfire from every weapon.

The Logitech G Pro X is a good sounding gaming headset that has lots of customization options. The earcups attach to the headband through sturdy, Y-shaped, matte black steel arms that let them pivot vertically, but not rotate. The really interesting adjustments come in the microphone menu and the plethora of options enabled by Blue Microphones' Blue Voice processing.

You can also connect the headset to a USB adapter, which you'll need if you want to take advantage of the software. In the middle lies the G Pro X, Logitech's newest gaming headset and a notable upgrade over the previous G Pro model. It is much better than the HyperX Cloud Flight, much better than the Corsair Virtuoso, and also much better than the Corsair HS70. If I was to place this headset in terms of audio quality versus everything else that I have listened to, this would be a close second right behind the GSP 370. But I imagine the stitching may be purely decorative anyway. You can connect it to devices via a single 3.5-millimeter audio jack, or use an included mic/audio splitter for gaming PCs. Both feel great. But I’d rather that than grating treble. Not So Fast. Sub-bass that of the lowest audible frequencies is not particularly strong, and it is this kind of bass that adds excitement to the heightened on-screen action. One is a fabric-wrapped, two-meter (6.5 feet) cable intended for the PC, with an inline remote featuring a mic mute switch, a volume wheel, and a shirt clip.

There is also fun presets like the FM Station one, which is what I would use to chat with my gaming buddies. In this review we will see exactly what is different, talk about the sound quality, the microphone quality, and its relation to other wireless gaming headsets that are still worth it in 2020. Most tend to prefer microfibre for comfort, but plastic leather helps to create a better seal with your head if minimising leakage is more important. Not only does it create a really bad soundstage environment, but the bass is incredibly muddy so you lose out a ton of detail on the low-end. His work and analysis has been seen in GamePro, Tested.com, Geek.com, and several other publications. It's a welcome alternative, but the pads attach to the cup with very thin faux-leather strips, and can be a bit frustrating to properly mount. But testing shows it simply is not all that directional, and as there are holes on two sides of the under-the-foam mic enclosure, both sides of the boom can “hear” fairly well.

This headset also has a few advanced features, but you need to use a PC to access them. In terms of design, nothing has changed. Lastly, there is indeed heat accumulation because of the leather ear pads. Nevertheless, I do appreciate that we have a lot of flexibility in the software. Second, there is always a bit of a delay between when you adjust the volume on the headset versus when you see the volume bar in Windows. The padding feels high-end regardless of the pads you’re using, and the boom mic and cable are fully detachable and replaceable. At one point during testing, I used the headset for a long video-chat-based D&D session and felt no ear or head discomfort at all. Use the Logitech G Pro X with a console, and you miss out on all this.
The G Pro X Wireless is a really good contender on the market, but basically all my complaints of the wired version of the G Pro X carry over to the wireless version.

I really feel like they have tuned the drivers and the wireless connection to sound as close as possible to the wired version, and that is a major positive. Here is my Oculus Rift S VR Headset, I will be doing this comfort test for all wireless gaming headsets in the future. If your gain is too high it will sound terrible, and if your gain is slightly lower it will definitely compensate by adding more bass and it will remove a lot of the distortion that might happen when the microphone is too sensitive. The Logitech G Pro X headset has great sound, customizable software and plenty of accessories, but you’ll pay for the luxury. Excellent mic with Blue Microphones software adjustments.

Powered by Trusted Reviews The Logitech G Pro X is a mid-price wired headset that, like much of the Logitech G line, looks more reserved than a lot of gaming hardware. The G Pro X Wireless is a really good contender on the market, but basically all my complaints of the wired version of the G Pro X carry over to the wireless version. Mac users don’t get these advanced features either, but you can still use the USB soundcard without the final techy sprinkles on top. He thought the headset was lightweight and felt comfortable, albeit just a bit tight. The vocals, drums, and guitar strums come through clearly, with each element easily discernible in the busy mix. If you do the math I should have about 30 hours of runtime. Fortunately, the headset sounds excellent when playing music in non-surround mode, with only stereo audio playing through it.

We’ll always tell you what we find. Borat 2 Has A Ridiculous New Title? © Short, coiled cables connect the earcups to each other, under the headband padding. A metal substructure supports two black plastic ear cups, each of which has a silver circle with a G logo on the outside.

The GSP 370 by Sennheiser is no exception, but there is a lot more to be desired in terms of depth, resolution of your voice, and clarity too. © 2020 Hardware Canucks. There’s a slight de-emphasis in the bass range, but otherwise the headset accurately outputs sounds up to around 3kHz.

I prefer the default neutral state, because otherwise it sounds muddy when any bass is added. The G Pro X gets a significant style and build quality upgrade over the previous, largely plastic G Pro Gaming Headset. The $130 package includes a sturdy, comfortable, headset with two sets of earpads, plus a DTS Headphone:X 2.0 USB sound card that enables a remarkable variety of EQ and audio processing adjustments for both the headphones and microphone. There are a few interesting presets like Broadcaster 1 preset, but while it does add little bit more bass, more compression, and more noise gate so I am louder, but the microphone is still quite poor. I can’t believe it… They finally did it! This is one of the best wired gaming headsets ever made. By the way, I don’t want to spoil anything, but Blue VO!CE is just as bad on this model as it was on the wired version.

They sound so much fuller and cleaner versus the Corsair HS70, which kind sounds hollow. It is relatively wide for a largely closed-back headphone (although this effect is likely improved by the long cup ports), but lacks the depth of the best headsets. Having said that, it is also a lot more expensive. The G Pro X doesn't look quite like anything Logitech has designed before. At $200 and $250 respectively, both alternatives move up from a USB soundcard to including physical mixing amps with controls and a variety of connection options, and offer slightly superior build quality. You will receive a verification email shortly. The wired microphone without and with Blue VO!CE does sound better than the wireless. There’s plenty more too, including a de-esser, generalised noise reduction, high and low pass filters and a compressor, which should help your voice stand out a little more in team chat. The card is a small, flat black plastic box about the size of a USB drive, with a 3.5mm headset port on one end and a two-inch-long, permanently attached fabric-wrapped cable terminating in a USB-A connector on the other end. The card works with Logitech's G Hub software and includes support for DTS Headphone:X 2.0 7.1-channel simulated surround sound. The highs and high-mids sound sculpted and crisp even with a flat EQ setting, which lets each vehicle's engine sound distinct, from the high-pitched whines of sports cars to the aggressive roars of trucks. Without it, your voice will sound quite thin and weak, typical of a small, basic microphone. To me they sound almost identical versus the wired G Pro X, which has natural clean balanced sound, and that carries over to the G Pro X Wireless. The noise gate is part of Blue Vo!ce processing, an aspect of the G Pro X available through the G Hub, and only on PC.
